When fear is out of control
Our personality drives our behaviour and our interpretation of other people’s behaviour according to some personal patterns; nevertheless, these patterns are flexible enough to adjust to each single situation.
In some cases, this flexibility has never been developed (personality disorders) or has been lost after or during a highly stressful emotional event. When it happens, relationships with family, friends and colleagues become difficult, disappointing, conflicting, or they trigger so much anxiety that people end up avoiding them at all. In relating to others, emotions become extreme and overwhelming, often with a sensation of inadequacy and sensitivity to critiques, generating severe discomfort.
In these situations, a psychotherapy path is a must to enable the person to achieve his/her own personal targets in all social relationships, that should overall become more loving and serene.
